Me? The Next Big Thing?

I've been tagged to participate in The Next Big Thing HOP. Of course, I'm thrilled to have the chance to brag about my WIP since it doesn't get much fanfare with my published books taking the limelight. And *fingers crossed* hopefully it will be "The Next Big Thing"!

Special Thanks
to Melinda Dozier
my WWoW! buddy
and Celeste Jones
for the tag.

Here are the rules:
1) Answer the questions.
2) Tag 3 other writers, providing the links.
3) Let the writers know you tagged them.

NOW let the fun begin!

What is the working title of Your Book?
Hold My Hand which makes me sing the song by Hootie & the Blowfish. lol.

Where did the idea come from for the book?
I woke up with Aubrey's character completely formed. Lines -her words- were repeating themselves in my head so I started writing. I stopped for the first time eight pages later. It's the first book I've written in first person and it been an emotional experience to get so deeply inside the head of a character like Aubrey.

What genre does your book fall under?
Contemporary Erotic Romance with a BDSM theme

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
Ich. I don't want it to be a movie! The book is always better. Since I'm not much into the big screen (or the little one), I can't see William and Aubrey as movie characters. I see them as people who come alive through a book.

But here are some photos that served as writing prompts for scenes in Hold My Hand. Most photos were taken from Pinterest and credited whenever possible. William is in the upper left hand corner. This is the serious face of the man who buys coffee from Aubrey nearly every day for months before he speaks to her.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I've been working on Hold My Hand part-time for six months and have a loose first-draft. With four more contracted books to finish, I won't likely complete this book until the middle of 2013.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I'm cringing even to say it aloud (because I admire these authors so much and can't yet put myself in their category in terms of success) but here it is: Naked: The Blackstone Affair, Gabriel's Inferno and Bared To You.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?
Me, I think. Aubrey has those emotional issues I saw in myself when I was younger and in observations I made of other young women. In Hold My Hand, I help her achieve her joy. Women's self-esteem is such a battle -that habit we have to judge so prevalent- I wanted to focus in on that idea while exploring some BDSM elements.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? How about a teaser?
You can follow the progression of the book on my website - Hold My Hand has it's own page. But here's an EXCERPT when William finally puts the question to Aubrey.

“You must choose, Aubrey. It’s all or nothing with us. You either accept us for what we are together or you reject us. I want a marriage with you, a future, but you must first decide if this is what you want.”
“William, please. I need some time.”
“You do not.” William cut me off. His voice halting any argument I would make. “Do you remember in the beginning? You were so new to everything but you trusted me to take care of you. And I only want to continue doing that for you. For us. So the only question is whether or not you trust me.”
“It can’t always be that simple.”
“Do you trust me, Aubrey? It all comes down to that. It truly is that simple.”

    1. no worries... it took me a week to get mine up from when I was tagged. since you link the person who tagged you, that's how you get the tag back to your post. But I'll update your link here once you post so it isn't just to your site but the actual post! :)

i love my WIP so much and it kills me not to be able to work on it. it'll be a race to see who gets theirs out first!
