A Hump Day Hook Phone Call

I'm back! It's been awhile since I've posted for Wednesday's HUMP DAY HOOK, the weekly blog meme where authors post a paragraph of their writing. My deadlines have been crazy so some posts had to be put on hold but here I am again. And below is my hook...

this week, I'm sharing a paragraph from Coming Home, my first contemporary romance book that was released nearly one year ago. (I'm feeling nostalgic.) The story begins with a phone call made in the middle of the night. You know, the kind you dread when the phone rings at 2:00am...

He dropped his gaze and flipped his phone over to see what client needed him now. But his caller id told him it wasn’t a client and he took a deep breath before answering. The hair on his neck stood straight as he pressed the phone to his ear—something was wrong. “Hi mother.”
