Tantalizing Christmas Hop!
My heart rate accelerates as I hear a car motor and the crunch of tires. I can’t help but hope its Seth. I watch from the window with a view of the driveway and steel myself against racing out of the house into the frigid evening air. As the car comes into sight, I see it’s our neighbor.
“Got a package for you, Abby,” Cliff says as he gets a large box out of the bed of his truck. He walks over and places the box on the porch. “Seth asked me to bring it over if he wasn’t home by today to deliver it himself.”
I say nothing. There are no words for how I’m feeling. I simply nod.
“Guess this was a longer trip than usual,” Cliff offers. He’s one of the few people who know about Seth’s job.
“He thought he’d be home for Christmas.”
